Chasen Shreve Has Officially Been Fired Into The Sun

Not the actual sun but St. Louis. Which compared to the lovely city of New York might be worse than the Sun. News broke after the second game of the day-night doubleheader against the Royals that the Yankees indeed traded relief pitcher Chasen Shreve and pitcher Giovanny Gallegos to the St. Louis Cardinals in exhchange for first baseman Luke Voit and international signing bonus money.

So what does Luke Voit bring to the team? He’s a power hitter which they could be using as a replacement in the lineup until Judge comes back from his wrist injury. Voit is currently batting .182 (gross) with 1 homerun and 3 RBIs. It’s a small sample size because he legit only has 11 at bats this season. In 62 games last season with St. Louis he batted .246 with 4 homeruns and 18 RBIs with a total of 28 hits in 114 at bats. Not the best but also not the worst. And no for all you people who take things too literally I’m not saying his going to be impactful at the plate as Aaron Judge.

Lets go back to Chasen Shreve though. I am so fucking happy he’s gone. I guess him getting out of the bases loaded jam against the Mets last week really impressed the Cardinals. Thank you Shreve for not blowing a game or putting this team into a hole. I dreaded every night he would stand up in the bullpen and start warming up. My favorite Shreve moment of the season was in June against the Tampa Rays. He came in threw one pitch and let up a walk off homerun. L-O- Fucking L! I wasn’t even mad, I wasn’t even shocked. It was just Shreve being Shreve. If he needs a ride to the airport tomorrow Brian Cashman can just give me a call and I’ll pick him up free of charge. Beyond grateful he’s off this team and it just proves the theory that Brian Cashman is a wizard more and more because I have no idea how he convinced somebody to take Shreve off our hands. So thank you once again Brian Cashman for being the best GM in all of baseball.
