The winter meetings have come and gone. Outside of the JA Happ signing the Yankees were quiet if you don’t count all the rumors around them. It was a very underwhelming last three days to say the least. But there was a positive today. One that got me pretty excited for baseball to come back. Clint Frazier has been partaking in baseball activities, a couple of weeks to be exact according to him:
Clint posted this video on his Instagram earlier in the day and it has me feeling some type of way. The bat swing. The contact. The drop of the bat. I am so ready for a healthy Clint Frazier in 2019. Frazier was battling on going symptoms of a concussion he sustained earlier in the year. To see him finally be able to take some cuts and look good doing it is a big sign of things to come. Before coming to the Yankees in the Andrew Miller to Cleveland deal, Frazier was viewed as their number two prospect overall. He continued to thrive in Scranton/Wilkes Barre. Even at his minimal major league at bats he has had success. His Major League numbers are as followed: a .238 average, 4 homeruns, 18 RBIs in 54 games.
If Clint is finally healthy, which I hope he is. The Yankees better have him playing left field at least 50% of the team. Odds are that Stanton is going to DH a lot. So you have Frazier split time with Gardner in left for the whole season and let Judge and Hicks play full-time in their respective positions. It’s that simple. I personally don’t want to see the Yankees trade away Clint Frazier, I think he’s going to be a special player and he has tremendous upside. The only downside to him now is that they are going to have to worry about his history with concussions. Hopefully he fully rebounds with no hiccups and finds himself on the roster come Opening Day, I need some Red Thunder in the Bronx. And I need a lot of it.
